Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

A Breast Lift (Mastopexy) is appropriate for women of all ages who are dissatisfied with the position of their breasts. It is especially common for women to notice sagging or drooping breasts requiring a breast lift surgery after childbirth and weight loss. Many times women will opt to combine a breast lift with a breast augmentation surgery using a breast implant to reshape and give fullness to the breasts. Breast Lift Consultation

During the initial consultation Dr. Ness will evaluate your medical history and determine which breast surgery is best for you. Dr. Ness and his assistants will take the time to educate you about breast lift surgery and welcome all of your questions about the surgery, our practice, and recovery after your breast lift procedure.

Breast lift Surgery

Dr. Ness will discuss the options of the anchor style breast lift where the incisions are carefully placed along the inframmary crease and up to the areola, or a concentric breast lift where the incision is kept around the colored portion of the nipple area. These scars are very well accepted and very well hidden in most instances after the initial healing phase. The patient can choose either a saline-filled- or silicone-gel filled breast implant with the breast lift procedure. Dr. Ness often recommends placing the breast implant behind the pectoralis muscle for a more natural appearance.

Breast lift surgery is a same-day procedure performed in one of our fully accredited outpatient surgery facilities such as WestHealth in Plymouth, MN, Maple Grove Hospital in Maple Grove, Minnesota or CentraCare Surgery Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Recovery after Breast Lift Surgery

Following your breast lift surgery, you will be cared for by the nursing staff in the recovery room. When you are fully awake and comfortable, you will be released to the care of a family member or friend with a list of after-care instructions.

Many breast lift patients return to work after 5-7 days of recovery time at home. There will be guidelines for after-care including lifting restrictions and limited exercise. We will schedule post breast lift surgery follow up appointments in one of our Minneapolis metro area or St. Cloud, Minnesota clinics periodically.
