What are the surgical options?
Chest masculinization surgery is performed using one of two primary surgical techniques, selected based on each patient's unique anatomy and desired outcome. For patients with a larger amount of breast tissue or excess skin, a double-incision mastectomy with nipple grafting is often recommended to create a flatter, more masculine chest contour. Patients with smaller breasts and good skin elasticity may be candidates for a periareolar (keyhole) technique, which removes breast tissue through smaller incisions and may be combined with liposuction to further refine the chest.
